ATHENS, Ga. (Atlanta News First) - A suspect is on the run after robbing two people at gunpoint near the University of Georgia campus in Athens, according to police.
The incident happened Saturday just before 10 p.m. in the area of South Finley Street and Waddell Street.
Athens-Clarke County Police say two people were walking in the area when they were approached by a Black man “described as approximately 50 years of age, with a grey beard, wearing a black hooded sweatshirt and grey sweatpants.”
According to police, the suspect pointed a handgun, possibly black or grey in color, at the victims and took several personal items before running away in the direction of Baxter Street.
No injuries were reported in the incident.
