DOUGLASVILLE, Ga. — The Georgia Bureau of Investigation is looking into a deadly domestic incident and related officer-involved shooting that occurred Saturday night in Douglasville, authorities said.

According to preliminary information, Douglasville Police responded around 9:27 p.m. on October 4 to a 911 call about a domestic disturbance at a home on Littlebrook Way. When officers arrived, they found a woman lying in the yard with unknown injuries and a man standing nearby.

Police said the man, later identified as 51-year-old Volanta Lejuan Walker of Douglasville, was armed with a handgun. Officers ordered him to drop the weapon, but investigators say Walker refused and pointed the gun toward them. One officer then fired, striking Walker.
