Mac Jones helped bring the 49ers to the top of the NFC West with a thrilling overtime win over the Los Angeles Rams on Thursday night.

But prior to kickoff, his day began on a jarring note.

The quarterback was on the balcony of his hotel in Marina del Rey when he spotted a dead body floating in the water, according to The Athletic’s Dianna Russini . Jones told his teammates what he saw and 911 was called.

As the 49ers got onto the team bus, they watched a coroner’s van and investigators pull in.

The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s department said they are still investigating the incident.
