John Lloyd Wright, the son of the great architect Frank Lloyd Wright, designed several homes in Long Beach.
In 1934, the second-oldest son, designed the John and Isabel Burnham House at 2602 Lake Shore Drive for friends of his and his wife, Hazel.
Also known as the Pagoda House, the Japanese-inspired five-level house on the Lake Michigan shoreline was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2013. It blends the Prairie School Wright’s father pioneered with the International Style that was popularized in Europe.
It was built with stucco, brick, stone terracing and both hipped and pent roofs. It also featured Stran-Steel lumber that interlocked, according to the National Register of Historic Places.
