Rangers have sacked Russell Martin after just four months at the club.

The brutal axe comes after today's (October 5) 1-1 draw against Falkirk, which saw fans protesting post-game by blocking the team's bus and forcing the manager to leave through a side door with a police escort.

The former Southampton boss - who had a three-year contract at Ibrox - had been in charge during the club's first seven Scottish Premiership games with just a single league win to his name.

Martin's reign is the shortest of any of the 20 permanent managers in the history of Rangers, eclipsing Paul Le Guen who was axed after 186 days.
