ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) — The Spencerport Fire District held its annual open house as part of Fire Prevention Week.
The event allowed the community to visit their local fire station, take a closer look at what they do, and meet the people who protect them.
Firefighter Rich Healey said, "We want people to learn, and we don't want to just be boring about it. We want to get people on hands-on activities, they get to pick up some of the equipment we have, we have a fire hose station where they get to try it out, and see some of the kind of things that our firefighters go through."
The event featured demonstrations and various firefighting equipment, such as the 'jaws of life' in a vehicular extrication demonstration.
