WEST HARTFORD, Conn. (WTNH) — Hundreds of people gathered on Sunday at West Hartford Town Hall commemorating the two year anniversary of the Hamas attacks on Israel.

Community members joined local Jewish leaders and elected officials to reflect.

"We're here to remember the horror and grief of October 7, but also the hope that we are on the brink of peace," Sen. Richard Blumenthal (D) said.

There are other events planned by local Jewish organizations over the next week to reflect on the conflict.

"The people really deserve the credit here for persisting," Rep. John Larson (D) said.

In a statement, the Connecticut Palestine Alliance wrote:

"We hope these negotiations represent the beginning of a permanent respite and mercy for Palestinians, addressing both the occupation and genocide,
