ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – It was a break from their normal calls. The Bernalillo County Sheriff's Office found itself wrangling up some runaway cattle on Sunday morning.

BCSO got an alert from Rio Grande High School. When they arrived, they found seven cows on the move. It took them a while to wrangle the cows from the school to an abandoned lot near the Auto Zone on Isleta and Blake.

Deputies say it's common for them to get calls like this from the South Valley. "I think it's fun. It's definitely a change of pace to chase cows across the city and get them rescued and back home safe," says BCSO Deputy Demitri Gomez.

County animal services came out with a trailer and were able to load up the livestock and take them home. BCSO says for larger livestock, proper branding really helps them
