Taylor Swift’s latest album “The Life of a Showgirl” shattered sales records on its first day of release, selling 2.7 million copies in traditional album sales across physical and digital purchases on Friday, Oct. 3.

According to Billboard , the opening day performance represents Swift’s biggest sales week ever and marks the second-largest sales week for any album in the modern era since electronic tracking began in 1991. Data tracking firm Luminate provided the sales figures.

The only album to surpass Swift’s numbers was Adele’s “25,” which sold 3.378 million copies during its first week in 2015, the report said.
