SOUTH BEND, Ind. — Police in South Bend are investigating after a child was injured in a shooting early Sunday morning.
According to a release from the South Bend Police Department , around 1:20 a.m. on Oct. 5 officers were called to the Miami Hills Apartments located in the 3300 block of South High Street on a report of a shooting.
As officers were traveling to the scene, they were informed that a four-year-old child was being transported to the hospital for treatment of an apparent gunshot wound.
Police say the child's injuries were not life-threatening.
According to a preliminary investigation, police believe that the child was inside the apartment when they were struck by gunfire from outside. Police say several other apartments were damaged by gunfire, but no other injuries were r
