HUNTERSVILLE, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — One person is hurt after a fire broke out at a home in Huntersville Sunday evening.

Crews were alerted to a working fire with a possible entrapment at a house in the 9600 block of Rich Hatchet Road. Cornelius and Davidson Fire Departments also assisted in the response.

Around 5:40 p.m., firefighters were entering the house trying to extinguish the blaze. Crews reported seeing heavy fire erupting from the rear rooms and in the attic.

During the search of the home, firefighters located a "bariastric patient". The victim was transported to the hospital by Medic. We do not know their current condition.

Crews used three hose lines to fight the fire, knocking out a bulk of the flames shortly before 6 p.m.

The fire was brought under control by 6:07 p.m.
