Nearly 12,000 runners took to the streets of Portland on Sunday for the 53rd annual Portland Marathon .
That’s the highest participation in the last decade, marathon public relations manager Anna Gimre said in a news release. And most of the podium finishers in the event’s four events hailed from Portland.
The race took runners through several Portland landmarks, including the Waterfront Park and Reed College, and brushed past the outskirts of the Portland Immigration and Customs Enforcement facility, which has become the center of national controversy.
