The New England Patriots lost Antonio Gibson to a potentially serious knee injury against the Buffalo Bills on Sunday night.

The veteran running back remained on the ground after a taking a hard hit on a kickoff return in the second quarter. He did manage to gingerly walk off the field under his own power, but after a stint in the blue medical tent quickly departed for the locker room. The team ruled him out shortly thereafter.

Gibson, 27, is in his second season with the Patriots after joining the team as a free agent in 2024. Serving as a top three member of the running back rotation alongside Rhamondre Stevenson and TreVeyon Henderson, he had been on the field for 52 offensive snaps this season before going down and touched the ball 26 times for 107 yards and a touchdown.
