Mumbai: The country's largest bone marrow transplant (BMT) facility with 60 beds will be established at Tata Memorial Centre 's Advanced Centre for Treatment, Research and Education in Cancer ( ACTREC ) in Kharghar, with CSR funding of Rs 380 crore from National Stock Exchange (NSE).
The bhoomipujan ceremony for the 11-storey building, which will be constructed by L&T, was conducted on Sunday. To be called NSE Multispecialty Hospital Block & Bone Marrow Transplant Cancer Hospital, the building will be handed over to ACTREC after the construction is complete, according to NSE officials.
ACTREC director Dr Pankaj Chaturvedi told TOI: "At present, we have a five-bed BMT centre at ACTREC. Once the 60-bed building is complete, we will be able to perform 600 bone marrow transplants every y
