BERGENFIELD, New Jersey (WABC) -- Police in New Jersey have increased patrols at synagogues after they say someone attacked a rabbi.
It happened about 2 p.m. along Sussex Road in Bergenfield.
Police say a driver stopped in front of the rabbi, got out of his car, and assaulted him.
A bystander reportedly intervened during the assault.
Officers arrested the attacker a short time later.
