FAIRFAX, Iowa (KCRG) —

One person is dead and two others have been taken to the hospital after a house caught fire early Sunday morning in eastern Iowa, KCRG reports .

Authorities were called to the 200 block of Olson Court in Fairfax around 2:30 a.m. When they arrived, they found a house fully engulfed in flames. First responders were told an elderly male had not escaped the house.

The two homeowners escaped the house and were taken to a local hospital for smoke inhalation. Two others in the house escaped unharmed.

Fire crews found the elderly man who was killed in the fire. His name is not being released at this time.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
