NAMPA, Idaho — A local nonprofit is embarking on a mission to build 10 community living facilities for seniors over the next 10 years as Idaho grapples with an aging population and mounting housing challenges.
Nampa Christian Housing, which has provided affordable senior housing since 1969, aims to provide seniors aged 62 and older with a place to live while offering them a sense of community.
"Our passion is taking care of the people without a home," said Marshawn Narum, the director of the organization. "We're very passionate about getting seniors off the street and into a home, and then we make it a family."
The nonprofit's latest project, Walt's Place, broke ground this fall. The facility will have 40 bedrooms, a gym, a walking path, a community center and a health center.
