The body of Melbourne woman Isla Bell was so badly damaged that forensic experts were unable to say how she died, a court has been told.

Ms Bell, 19, was reported missing last October before her remains were found about six weeks later at a rubbish tip in Dandenong, in Melbourne's south-east.

Prosecutors allege she was murdered by Marat Ganiev, a man she barely knew, with her body stuffed in a fridge and moved around the city before it ended up at the waste facility.

Co-accused Eyal Yaffe is accused of assisting an offender and attempting to pervert the course of justice.

The men are facing a committal hearing, with a magistrate to decide if there is sufficient police evidence for the men to stand trial.
