ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) - A building in downtown Atlanta was damaged Sunday afternoon after a stolen vehicle crashed into it, according to police.
The crash happened in the area of Peachtree Street and Ellis Street NE, just across from the Ritz-Carlton Atlanta hotel.
Police say patrol officers found a stolen car they were told about and “got behind it” before it took off. Officers lost sight of the car for a few moments before they found it at the crash location.
A witness told police that they were at work when they saw the car driving fast down Peachtree Street. He then heard a loud boom and walked up to see the crash.
The car took out a fire hydrant, a window of the building and stopped on a nearby parked car, according to police.
Only the suspect was injured in the crash
