A plan to open a drive-thru coffee shop in a supermarket car park has been kicked out by East Ayrshire Council planners. ‌

Blueprints proposed that the new venture would be built in the corner of Morrisons car park in Kilmarnock, opposite the filling station. ‌

Motor Fuel Group, which is owned by the supermarket giant, was behind the plan for the new West Langlands Street development. ‌

Documents did not disclose who would be running the shop but Motor Fuel Group generally house either a Costa Coffee or Starbucks on their sites.

The car park - which has 553 spaces - would sacrifice 49 spaces for the development, but the applicant argued that it would still be ample for shoppers.
