CINCINNATI — The Detroit Lions have the makings of greatness and show it in stretches, as they did again here against an outmanned Cincinnati Bengals team. This isn’t hard to spot on the field, where one of the NFL’s most talented rosters makes plays on nearly every inch of the turf.

And it isn’t hard to hear in the words of Dan Campbell, who bounded into the postgame news conference Sunday, Oct. 5, as if he were still stalking the sideline in a headset. The Lions coach was giddy by even his standards, the kinetic energy spilling forth the minute he opened his mouth.

“I told the team, ‘Listen men, that’s a good win! We'll take that!’” his voice rising with each syllable after a 37-24 victory over the Bengals . “ Do we have things to clean up? Was it perfect? No, it wasn’t.
