SOUTH WINDSOR, Conn. (WTNH) -- Police say a 64-year-old woman is facing charges after allegedly attempting to "strike" a person over the head with a hammer.

It happened around 3:46 p.m. on Saturday. The victim was able to block the attempted "strikes" with their hands and arms, which caused minor injuries, according to police.

Bloomfield police located the suspect during a traffic stop a short time after, police said.

Carolyn Martin-Taylor, of South Windsor, was charged with disorderly conduct and assault in the second degree.

She was released on a $5,000 non-surety bond and is expected to appear in Manchester Superior Court on Monday.
