VERNON, Conn. (WTNH) -- Vernon police are investigating after a vehicle was allegedly stolen at knifepoint and a cruiser was struck while fleeing authorities on Sunday night.
According to police, around 9:38 p.m., an alert was issued for the towns surrounding Vernon of a vehicle stolen at knifepoint. The vehicle owner told police the car was located on Mercer Avenue.
When authorities arrived at the scene, the alleged stolen vehicle crashed into a cruiser and fled westbound toward Silver Lane. Police said they lost sight of the car and did not continue to pursue for safety reasons.
Authorities said they found the car shortly after in Manchester, but the driver has not been identified.
No injuries were reported. The cruiser sustained minor damage to its front end, police said.
