Dame Jilly Cooper has died at the age of 88, with fans of the novelist now taking a moment to look back at her journey as an author.

She is known as the writer of many best-selling books which have formed part of her Rutshire Chronicles series.

There was one particular book which caused her career to particularly shoot off - Riders - however, Jilly confessed previously it was not smooth sailing with the novel.

The star originally published the romance novel in 1985, but what many fans may not know is she actually had the book prepared over a decade earlier.
