PHOENIX (AZFamily) — During some of the hottest temperatures of the year, several hospital patients were discharged with nowhere to go.
Some examples include people still in their hospital gowns or bracelets, who ended up at or around the bus stop in front of the hospital they were discharged from. In one case, a man died.
Dennis Plunkett works right across the street from Banner University Medical Center in Phoenix . His office window faces that bus stop.
“At least once a week, we see something like that,” he said. “It’s not uncommon for us to see people that are discharged from the hospital hanging around out there for extended periods of time because they have no place to go.”
That would be bad enough, but on July 2, Phoenix Police confirmed a man died there.
