Two people are facing charges in a distraction theft Calgary police say happened back in August.

Just before 6:30 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 16, on Harvest Hills Boulevard NE, a man was approached by a man and woman he didn’t know, asking for money for gas.

Investigators believe they offered the man jewelry as collateral for the cash loan.

The victim gave them the money under the belief he would be reimbursed, but the following day he wasn’t able to get ahold of them.

He reported the incident to police.

Two suspects were found in Olds and arrested.

Constantin Miclescu, 29, and Claudia Sirbu, 27, both of Scarborough, Ont. have each been charged with one count of fraud under $5,000.

They are scheduled to appear in court on Friday.
