BEAUMONT, Texas (KLTV) - Former Rusk Eagle Aiden McCown threw a touchdown pass and ran another one in to help Lamar beat Nicholls State 24-17 on Saturday.
It was the third start of the year for the sophomore.
McCown was 12-of-22 through the air for 237 yards, one touchdown and one interception. He also carried the ball four times for 10 yards and a touchdown. The Cardinals got the scoring started early when McCown connected with Blake Thomas for an 85-yard touchdown pass just 19 seconds into the game. McCown’s second touchdown came by way of a 3-yard touchdown run to cap off an 11-play, 80-yard drive to tie the game at 14.
