YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) -- A Youngstown health care provider pleaded guilty Monday in connection with a Medicaid fraud investigation.
Janay Veal pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor theft charge. She was given a six-month suspended jail sentence, placed on probation for two years and ordered to pay restitution to Medicaid in the amount of $4,000. A felony charge of Medicaid Fraud was dismissed.
Veal was investigated by the Ohio Attorney General's Office on allegations that she billed for services after removing herself from a recipient’s plan of care. She also allegedly billed for days in which a relative of the recipient provided the services, resulting in a loss of about $4,923 to Medicaid, according to Ohio Attorney General David Yost.
