An Orleans Parish jail employee was arrested for an attempt to introduce contraband into the correctional facility, the Sheriff's Office said in a news release Monday.
Savannah Jordan, a corrections monitor technician, was arrested Sunday on seven felony charges:
Three counts of criminal conspiracy to introduce contraband into a correctional facility
Two counts of malfeasance in office
Two counts of possession with intent to distribute a Schedule II controlled substance, which OPSO said was suboxone pills
The sheriff's office said an investigation revealed Jordan was monitored and observed "engaging in unauthorized movements within the facility."
OPSO's Investigative Services Bureau is leading the investigation.
