Since the Penguins opened training camp in Cranberry just under three weeks ago, they have carefully whittled down their roster from 69 players to the requisite 23.

The team that they are taking to New York for Tuesday’s season opener against the Rangers is an eclectic mix of aging former All-Stars, reclamation projects, intriguing teenagers, veteran trade candidates and one of the greatest players in NHL history.
