The Pittsburgh Steelers are signing running back and kick returner Raheem Blackshear to their practice squad, according to Adam Schefter of ESPN.
Known as ‘speedy’ when he played at Archbishop Wood in Warminster, Pennsylvania, Blackshear will help ease the Steelers’ concerns at kick returner with rookie Kaleb Johnson struggling to take to that part of the game.
The Steelers have already elevated running back Trey Sermon twice to take on kick returns and only have one more elevation for him. Blackshear could take that role. In addition, Blackshear is more insurance with Jaylen Warren battling a knee injury, though Warren should play.
