HARTFORD, Conn. (WFSB) - A woman was placed in custody following a head-on crash on I-84 in Hartford on Sunday.

At around 1:56 p.m. troopers were notified of a wrong-way activation alert in the area of Interstate 84 in Hartford then dispatchers were able to confirm that there was a wrong-way driver on the Exit 46 on-ramp, state police said.

When crews arrived, they found two cars involved in a head-on collision.

Minor injuries were reported in this incident.

Officials were able to identity the wrong-way driver as 41-year-old Desiree Garcia of Hartford.

As police were speaking to Garcia, they noticed signs of intoxication and she was asked to perform at standardized field sobriety test, but she failed.

Garcia was placed in custody.
