GREENSBORO, N.C. — Stokes County Schools Superintendent Dr. Brad Rice known by many as the “singing superintendent” is among eight regional finalists for the 2026 A. Craig Phillips Superintendent of the Year Award, which recognizes excellence in public education leadership.
Rice was selected from a group of nineteen superintendents who lead school districts within the Piedmont/Triad Educational Consortium.
The winner will be announced Thursday at the Grandover Resort in Greensboro. The state honoree will then represent North Carolina in the national competition next February in Nashville.
