A bear is believed to have attacked and killed a Missouri man who was camping in Arkansas, local officials said.
The victim, Max Thomas, 60, of Springfield, Mo., was at Sam’s Throne campground in the Ozark National Forest when his children contacted authorities after not hearing from their father for a couple of days, Newtown County Sheriff Glenn Wheeler said in a news release.
Police noted “the campsite had been disturbed and there was evidence of a struggle and injury,” before discovering “drag marks leading from the campground into the woods.”
