MASSENA, New York (WWNY) - Fire Prevention Week is underway. The Massena Fire Department spent the day teaching students about fire safety.
Madison Elementary held a fire drill Monday morning, one of many done each year. But Monday’s version had more facts and fire gear than normal.
“They love it. They look forward to it every year,” said Principal Nicole Terminelli.
For Fire Prevention Week, the Massena Fire Department is going to each school in the district. Students listened to presentations, learned how to stop, drop, and roll, and high-fived first responders.
“Sometimes, first responders, emergency personnel can be intimidating to kids, so the more often that we have them in the building and the kids get an opportunity to see and hear from them, I think it’s really impactful,” sai
