LONG BEACH – A clerk at an unnamed liquor store in Long Beach was caught in a sting and cited for selling alcohol to under-aged decoys, police said Monday.

The citation was issued Sept. 12 during an undercover operation, according to the Long Beach Police Department.

Decoys “under the direct supervision of police department detectives” attempted to buy booze from 19 retail businesses, resulting in one citation being issued, the LBPD reported.

Police remind business operators and employees that clerks who sell alcohol to minors face a fine of $250 and community service for a first violation and state authorities may take administrative action against the owner or operator that could include license suspension.
