SPARTANBURG COUNTY, S.C. (WSPA) -- An injunction hearing was held Monday to decide the future of the Spartanburg clock tower.

The city previously approved plans to remove the Morgan Square-based structure, but some residents are fighting to keep it standing.

The judge did not make a ruling on a preliminary injunction, despite the somewhat heated debate between the city and some residents.

While both sides agreed the clock tower is an iconic part of Spartanburg’s downtown history, they clashed over whether it has a true connection to the American Revolutionary War.
