KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) - Major changes are on the horizon for families who rely on the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP). Tennesseans must meet new work requirements or risk losing the benefit.

SNAP users in Tennessee have until the end of the month to comply with the new expanded work requirements or prove why they should be exempt.

Under the new requirements, people between the ages of 18 and 65 who don’t have a disability or don’t live with children under the age of 14 must work, volunteer, or participate in a job training program for at least 20 hours a week to continue receiving benefits.
