[LINN COUNTY, Iowa] — Google is considering building another data center in Linn County. The proposal was discussed during a work session with the Linn County Board of Supervisors.
The board said Google plans to construct a six-building complex near the Duane Arnold Nuclear Plant. The county is collaborating with Duane Arnold to resume operations.
A water study is necessary due to the high water demands for cooling the equipment in these centers. Google has agreed to fund this study.
"Water is a part of our critical infrastructure," Kirsten Running-Marquardt of the Linn County Board of Supervisors said. "We want to consider where data centers would get their water.
