BISMARCK, N.D. (KFYR) - In an exclusive interview, Senator John Hoeven (R-ND) confirms to Your News Leader that the Trump administration is working on a financial aid package for struggling farmers.

Soybean prices have decreased significantly because China has stopped buying the crop from U.S. farmers as retaliation for tariffs.

Last week, a soybean farmer told Your News Leader that the crop typically sells for $10 to $15 per bushel. The current price is approximately $8.50 per bushel. Those prices would leave the farmer losing $30 to $100 per acre.

The assistance is expected to exceed more than ten billion dollars.
