MINOT, N.D. (KMOT) – The Minot City Council did an about-face and voted to remain in the North Dakota League of Cities for next year, amid a slew of 11th-hour amendments to the 2026 budget.
Last month, Your News Leader reported the council voted 4-3 to remove the $25,000 in dues from next year’s budget .
Those in support said they were disappointed with the league’s position on the 3% property tax cap issue during the legislative session earlier this year.
Others called it ‘personal politics.’
Mike Hayes, the city’s newest council member, moved to add it back in, saying after doing some homework following the decision to cut it from the budget, he believed the city should in fact stay in the league.
It passed with Hayes’ vote 4-3.
