MINOT, N.D. (KMOT) – The Minot City Council approved its budget for 2026 on second reading Monday night.

The vote comes following lengthy discussion on use of property taxes, money for infrastructure improvements, economic development, and more.

The council made a series of 11th-hour line-item changes to the budget before approving. They include:

suspend the rules regarding the motions to reconsider for the 2026 budget discussion

include the North Dakota League of Cities annual dues in the amount of $25,000 from the City Council budget

include the FT Heavy Equipment Operator in the 2026 budget in the amount of $85,002 (salary and benefits)

approve the enterprise vehicle replacement in the amount of $1,171,000

remove the $328,318.28 in cuts provided by the Finance Director and put th
