Western Sydney University had been thrown into turmoil after thousands of alarmed students and graduates reported receiving emails from the institution's official domain that they had been “excluded” from their courses.
The university confirmed on Monday it had been hit by yet another data breach, after a flurry of bogus emails were sent to students and graduates informing them their hard-fought degrees had been “revoked.”
“Western Sydney University is aware of fraudulent emails sent to students and graduates, with some falsely claiming that they have been excluded from the university or that their qualifications have been revoked,” a WSU spokeswoman said in a statement to news.com.au on Monday.
