TWIN FALLS, Idaho (KMVT/KSVT) — It’s Fire Prevention Week, a time to remind the public that it’s not too complicated to prevent fires.
The simplest of actions can prevent a fire from getting out of control.
Matt Ochsner, the American Red Cross Regional Communications Director for Idaho, Montana, and East Oregon said the Red Cross has responded to 140 house fires across Idaho this year. He added that on average, seven people die a day in the United States due to house fires. Ochsner said the best way to keep you and your family safe is having a working smoke alarm in the house.
“On average, people have just two minutes, just two minutes to get out of their homes safely during a fire. Now two minutes is not much time at all, especially if you got children in the home, elderly in the home.
