ST. LOUIS - Homicide detectives from the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department (SLMPD) are investigating a fatal shooting that claimed the life of one man in Midtown on Monday.

According to SLMPD, officials were alerted to the shooting around 7 p.m. in the 3800 block of Laclede Avenue. Upon their arrival, officers located two males who were shot.

SLMPD says one of the men who was shot died from his injuries. Police say the other victim showed up at a hospital in the area. Officials says the age of the victims is unknown at this time.

Since the shooting, the Saint Louis University Department of Public Safety (SLU DPS) shared on social media that there is large police presence in The Village Apartments.

SLU DPS is urging those to avoid the area.
