UNION, Mo. – A former gas station clerk has been charged for allegedly stealing a winning lottery ticket at Casey’s General Store in Union, Missouri.

According to Franklin County Police, while she was employed as the store clerk on July 17, Lindsay Cox-Fuemmeler, 43, scanned the ticket, saw the value and then informed the victim that it was a losing ticket.

The victim then handed the ticket back to Cox-Fuemmeler, where she then pocketed it. Franklin County prosecuting attorneys say the ticket was worth $3,250.00.

The probable cause statement also says that “Lindsay Cox-Fuemmeler admitted to knowing the ticket was a large winner and gave it to her husband to verify, which he did.”

Court records say the 43-year-old attempted to cash the winning ticket, but there was a hold on it.
