BRONX, N.Y. (PIX11) -- Eighteen-year-old Josue Lopez-Vasquez was fighting to clear his name after a freak crash last month wrongly implicated him in a deadly mass shooting.

New evidence has now exonerated him.

The chaos and carnage erupted on Allerton Avenue, Labor Day weekend, where more than a dozen shots were fired, killing a man on his bicycle and wounding four others.

As police pursued the suspects in a Honda Accord, the gunmen crashed into Lopez-Vasquez’s car near Hone and Arnow Avenues. The force of the collision sent a .45-caliber handgun and ammunition flying into the innocent teen’s vehicle through the window.

Lopez-Vasquez was arrested and charged with weapons and ammunition possession connected to the shooting in September.
