LOUISVILLE, Ky. —

A Kentucky man accused of killing a mother and her teenage daughter has been indicted.

Joshua Cottrell is charged with murder in the deaths of Kayla Blake and her 13-year-old daughter.

The Rowan County Sheriff's Office found Blake and McWhorter dead inside a Rowan County home on Sept. 19, when deputies were dispatched for a welfare check. Police said they were stabbed to death.

Cottrell was arrested nearly five hours away from the scene in McCracken County.

The case will now move to the Rowan County Circuit Court, with an arraignment date to be set at a later time.

He is being held on a $1 million bond.

Cottrell was previously convicted of killing a man in Hardin County in 2003. He was sentenced to 20 years in that case.
