ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – APD is working to dispel rumors surrounding a man's death last year, as protesters are demanding information about what happened. A large group gathered outside APD's headquarters Monday evening seeking answers about Jayvon Givan, who police say was found dead, hanging from a chain in front of a vacant business near Corrales Road and 528 last year.

According to a police report, an autopsy determined Givan committed suicide, but some on social media have described Givan's death as a lynching. Despite the lack of supporting evidence, that provocative claim has gone viral.

Monday afternoon, APD issued a statement saying in part, "Investigators did not identify signs of foul play and the office of the medical investigator determined that Mr. Givan died by suicide."
