MANISTEE – No one has been able slow down, forget about effectively stop, the Ludington Orioles football team this season.
But the Manistee Mariners seemed to have found success early on in Friday night’s homecoming game on their field.
Keeping the ball for nearly eight minutes the first time they possessed the ball on offense in the game, the Mariners punched in a touchdown and narrowed the margin to 7-6.
It would be the last time Manistee would get close to the end zone the rest of the way, as the Orioles quickly gathered momentum thanks to its hard-hitting defense and rolled to a 48-6 win to move to 6-0 and 4-0 in the WMC Lakes Division.
There was a running clock for a good part of the second half, beginning early in the third quarter.
